Use
your Husker.NU address to eliminate junk email!
To use your Husker.NU address to eliminate spam, simply
create a rule in your email program to delete all mail not addressed to
your Husker.NU email address. Below are some examples of how to set up a
few of the common email programs:
Outlook Express users:
In the menu bar go to Tools - Message Rules - Mail...
(if you already have some rules in place, click New...)
Under 1. Select the Conditions for your rule:
check "Where the To or CC line contains people"
Under 2. Select the Actions for your rule:
check "Delete it from the server"
Then under 3. Rule Description:
click on the underlined "contains people" link and type your bigred email address in the field, then click Add. next, click Options...
Click the radio button by "Message does not contain the people below"
Click OK
Click OK
Under 4. Name of the rule:
type a name
Click OK
This will eliminate any messages sent to any other email address including "undisclosed" or no address (so be sure you don't want to see anything that is not addressed specifically to your
Huskermail.com email address)
If you are not quite positive that you want to vaporize all email
before even downloading it that is not addressed to your Huskermail.com address, instead of choosing "Delete it from the server" you could choose
"Move it to the specified folder" and click on the link and select the Deleted Items folder. This will make it easy to delete these by
simply emptying your trash, but give you a chance to scan them quickly for non-trash before obliterating them.
Netscape Messenger Users:
Edit - Message Filters... New...
Type in a name for your rule
Use the drop downs so the rule reads:
"the to or CC of the message doesn't contain" and enter your bigred email address in the next field
Use the next drop down so it reads "then Delete"
Click OK
Click OK
If you don't want to delete the messages you can, instead of choosing "then Delete" choose "then Move to folder" and select Trash from the drop down.
